Mission Statement
It is the utmost mission of this game, above all other things, to provide a safe, friendly place to explore their dreams, their nightmares, and everywhere in between, in hopes that the imaginative, the ever inquisitive inner-childs of the world so often all but destroyed by harsh reality, can again find a place in the hearts and minds of us all. In short, this was intended as a tool for self exploration. A bizarre mirror for the soul.

Acceptable Use Policy
Security
You may not in any circumstance do anything which would compromise the security, privacy, or stability of this MUCK and its members. Intentional or not, this will result in immediate removal from the game at the very least.
Transmissions to and from this MUCK are monitored and logged as a security precaution. These logs are thus never read unless there's a problem, but please be aware of them and their availability to the head admin should it be necessary. Simply put, we don't like lies. Additionally, it is not permissible to discuss or plan activities which would be illegal in the United States, where the server is located.
Community
This MUCK is intended to be a community, and a place to relax and have fun. Thusly its suggested that we all help each other out, and act like a community. The only real requirement here is that everyone at least treat each other with equal amounts of respect and dignity. No-one is better than anyone else, not even wizards. If you feel that you are unable to relax and have fun here, then there -is- a problem, so don't be afraid to seek out an admin for help.
Intellectual Property
The ideas that continually bounce around on the MUCK and forums are copyright their respective owners, of course, unless it is already copyright someone else, in which case only the modifications of the copyrighted idea are the property of the individual who suggested the idea. Don't deliberately steal other people's intellectual property, in other words.

Code of Conduct
Netiquette
The standards of proper netiquette apply here, of course. Be courteous, respectful, and fair to others. I would think you'd want them to do the same for you, right? If you think someone isn't, kindly question their intentions and/or ask them to stop, first. If that doesn't work, find a wizard.
With regards to roleplaying, all players are expected to be courteous to one another in their attendance to planned or scheduled roleplaying sessions. This particularly applies to players who take on key roles within major plotlines. It is expected that such players make an effort to notify others involved should a circumstance arise which prevents one's attendance. Failing such notification, the playerbase reserves the right to continue the plot without the missing player's involvement. Wizards will mediate and resolve any conflicts preventing such continuation.
Harassment
I cannot stress this one enough, do not harass other players. It doesn't matter if you mean well or not, if you're making them uncomfortable then you may assume you've gone too far. That being said, players, please try to resolve the situation first. For most people, a simple, 'You're making me uncomfortable. Please stop.' should work. But if it doesn't, especially if you feel bullied or threatened in real life, tell a wizard! This is one of the more serious rules here. In some extreme cases law enforcement may have to be called, but we hope not.
Twinking and Godmoding
While we understand the desire to have a cool character in the game, keep it within some limits please. It's no fun to play with a character who is all powerful or always has the solution to a problem. This is known as Godmoding, and is strongly discouraged. Conflict is one of the main driving forces in good Role Playing. That being said, the type of Roleplay encouraged here is the free-form, collaborative kind, not competitive, so there's no need to be the best or most powerful. A lot of times that mode of thinking leads one to do actions to other characters without giving their player a say in the result. This is known as Twinking, and is also strongly discouraged. When in doubt, page the player in question.
As a final note, holding back info needed for a player to make an informed decision about what their character should do in a situation is also strongly discouraged. Obviously, a player would not have their prized character step into what turns out to be a death trap had they been OOCly informed of the danger.
Erotic Behavior
While we do recognise that many animals, humans included, reproduce in a sexual manner, we hold the belief that this particular aspect of a character's life need not be Roleplayed in any form of graphic detail. This is not so much a ban on sex as it is on the exchange of what would be classified as pornographic material, OOC or IC. Thusly, the maximum rating anywhere for this MUCK, public or private, is R. Violence, drug use, whatever.. just no porn or cybersex. Violation of this rule will result in a minimum of a two year ban from the MUCK. Kids play on this MUCK, folks, be considerate.

Disclaimer
The services provided to you here are provided without warranty. As with any community, any damages caused by the result of using this MUCK are not the legal responsibility of the MUCK admins or the organization which they represent, and thusly damages are limited to $0.00 USD. Additionally, this organization does not condone the deliberate infringement of copyright law and assumes no legal liability for any such activities by the individual players. In short, we only provide a service, we're not police or babysitters, though we will work with them if necessary to ensure the safety and security of the community.

Admin Etiquette
To put it simply, the wizards of the muck are expected to follow the rules set down in these files, plus additional requirements which are admin specific. The wizards, in short, are expected to assist players however they can, and are bound by legal confidentiality. They should work as a team if at all possible, and only act as wizards when their heads are clear. This is all abstract of course, but players should not be afraid to come to the wizards for help or to suggest new concepts. It can and should only get better from here.
As a response to several problems encountered in the past few years, wizards are now also required to log in at least once per week to remain in good standing. If for some reason a wizard cannot perform this minimal task, he or she must notify the other wizards. Failing to do either of these after more than 30 days will result in a loss of wizard standing on the MUCK.

Building and Programming
Privileges
Building privileges are hierarchal, and often wildly variant due to the vast flexibility of the system to meet the needs of the MUCK as a whole. Therefore our best advice for you here is to consult a staffer if you run into any problems while building. Though accessible to everyone, MPI is considered to be a type of programming, and is thus covered by the rules of this section.
Programming privileges are granted to those who have demonstrated at least moderate proficiency with regards to the inner workings of the MUCK and MPI, and have a desire to either learn more, or create something more than those systems allow. Anyone who fits this description is encouraged to consult a programming staffer about obtaining a Mucker bit (M1). Levels higher than M1 are generally granted to existing programmers who show a need for it in making a useful program work. Consult a wizard for details.
Limitations
Builders and programmers alike are expected not to use their privileges for any purpose which would violate the AUP or Code of Conduct. But just to make it absolutely clear, players are not to use any of these features to harass, impersonate, steal from, or violate the privacy of any player. In addition, you are prohibited from creating any item which circumvents MUCK policy and any programs which enforce it, or any mechanism which would compromise the security or integrity of the MUCK or any of its players. Violating these rules will result in either loss of privileges or a ban, depending on the severity of the offense.
